There are so many reasons we love to use clay in our soap and skincare preparations. They are brimming with minerals and nutrients. They are non-toxic, pure and natural. Each different colour clay has different properties and can help different skin concerns. Some hydrate, soften or smooth. Others detox, purify and cleanse. While some rejuvenate, nourish and balance the skin.
Here are the Australian Clays we use and why:
Pink – Kaolin, Quartz – Australian Pink Clay is perfect for balancing stressed and sensitive skin, it can create a youthful appearance with ultimate hydration and skin firmness. Its hydrating properties help to refine delicate lines, moisturise and improve the overall texture of the skin. This versatile clay suits all skin types, we have created an effective blend featuring pink clay in our DIY Pink Clay mask, for more information about this mask, click here.
Yellow – Montmorillonite, Quartz, Anatase – Australian Yellow Clay is great for gently exfoliating & cleansing your skin, toning & strengthening connective tissues, stimulating blood circulation, drawing out toxins & superfluous fat, and hydrating, nourishing & feeding your skin, without leaving it feeling dry or tight. We use this gentle clay in our DIY clay mask powder for Normal to Sensitive skin, you can find it here.
Green – Kaolin, Quartz – Australian Green Clay is the strongest of all clays and is best for detoxification and acne prone and oily skin. The minerals in the clay can help to re-balance oil flow, strengthen skin and act as an aid for repairing scars. Ideal for body wraps after pregnancy where cellulite and stretch marks are of concern. You can find our DIY Spot Treatment Mask here which features this brilliant clay.
Ivory – Kaolin, Quartz – Australian Ivory Clay is soft and silky for sensitive skin and is the most gentle of all the clays. It is very mild, nurturing and is particularly good for use on children and the elderly.
Black – Magnetite, Water, Quartz – Australian Black Clay contains great iron and oxygen properties. It is a non-toxic mineral with cleansing and conditioning agents, which make it particularly good for nourishing the skin. We love to use this clay in our Black Clay Facial Soaps.
They are also many wonderful natural botanicals we love to use also as they contain plenty of minerals and nutrients. Pure, natural ingredients such as things are ideal to include in eco-friendly in soap and skincare formulas. Here are some of our favourites.
