I love January ~ a new month ~ a new year ~ a fresh start full of new beginnings. It’s warm and sunny, many people are on holidays, it’s beach weather, there’s time relaxing at home with family ~ ahhh, I love it all!
I’m all ready to leap into 2016 but as I eagerly go about setting my goals, cleaning up my work space, creating harmony around our house and garden I am also finding myself spending time reflecting on the previous year….
What worked for me? what didn’t? what would I change? what wouldn’t I change?
I’ve always been one to set some New Year resolutions of some sort or another but this year, I have decided, it’s going to be different.
If I fail, if I weaken, if I succumb, if I sleep in, if I don’t finish something, if I eat that cake, if I miss that class….you get the drift….it’s all OK.
I, like many of you out there have the best intentions. I too can and do overindulge from time to time. I may be known to drink that extra glass of bubbles that I really didn’t need or help myself to a bit too much dessert.
Balance and moderation is often the key when dealing with these temptations.
So without sacrificing myself of life’s little luxuries I aim to be the best version of me – and being mindful of doing this daily throughout 2016.
It’s not complicated. Not extreme. Not life changing. No crazy New Year resolutions that may scare me, just simply being the best version of me. Which means a variety of things….such as, I am going to smile more, people really could smile a whole lot more don’t you think! 🙂 I am going to spend time daily being appreciative of the things in my life I am grateful for. This is too often taken for granted, overlooked and not cherished.
When I am exercising regularly and eating healthy and clean and in a good “space” both physically and mentally for an extended period of time, this is when I feel my absolute best, when things fall into place and I just feel good. So that said….I am the only one who is responsible to allow myself to become the best version of me. I know what I need to do to achieve this.
I plan on doing more of what I love. More time spent gardening, yoga practice, working in and on my business and spending time with my family. Simple stuff but important stuff.
There will be no more sweating over the small things. One thing I have learnt over these 42 years I’ve spent on Earth is that life is short, bloody short! Hopefully I will live to a ripe old age, if I live to be 80+ half my life has already been lived! Half my life! sheesh ~ let’s get living people 🙂
So there is no point in beating ourselves up over the silly little things.
Let’s be grateful, let’s be happy and let’s be kind.
Forgive, forget, move on and get on with living the fantastic life we are here to live.
Enjoy all life has to offer, enjoy some things in moderation, enjoy some in abundance!
Live it with love & happiness & you’ll be the best version of YOU, every day without even trying 🙂
Happy New Year everyone!
Until next time,
