3 simple skincare tips to help save your skin during the holiday season!
Skincare Tip #1 STICK TO YOUR SKINCARE REGIME
It can be enticing to jump straight into bed after a night out celebrating but hang on…don’t forget to wash your face. Just as you wouldn’t go to bed without brushing your teeth, treat your skin with the same care. A quick cleanse, tone and moisturise then you are ready to hit the hay for a lovely nights beauty sleep and you’ll wake up with a clean, fresh face.
Skincare Tip #2 STAY HYDRATED
You hear this time and time again, and for good reason. Stay hydrated and drink at least 2 litres of water a day. I am surprised when I discover when chatting with clients how little people are actually consuming. Our bodies can tolerate a lot and survive on minimal water and function on an unhealthy diet – but for how long? Quite often people aren’t drinking enough simple plain water throughout their day. Water is so important for obviously not only survival but for healthy, clear skin, it contributes directly to healthy regular bowel movement, increased brain clarity and just generally a higher state of vibration.
When experiencing skin concerns it is always a good idea to address how much water we are really taking in everyday. It’s very common to forget to drink adequate water, especially in social situations when alcohol is being consumed or during the day when coffee and other beverages are easily enjoyed. Switch each alcoholic beverage or coffee with a glass of water. Both alcohol and caffeine are very dehydrating and damaging to the skin. Moderation is most definitely the key!
Increasing the amount of daily water to a minimum of 2 litres has a noticeable improvement on the health of your skin. Our bodies are approx 70% water so keep it filled up with natures delicious elixir. Water is indeed the elixir of Life – check out my blog post about water that I wrote a while back.
Skincare Tip #3 START YOUR DAY RIGHT
When we start the day off well it sets the tone and intention for a great day. Get up at a reasonable hour and embrace the morning. Have cleansing lemon water upon rising, squeeze in some exercise, perhaps a simple stretch, reflections, journaling and/or gratitude, don’t forget your simple morning skincare regime and then enjoy a healthy breakfast.
Hold off on looking at your phone until you have woken up properly. Make it a priority to fuel your mind, body and soul with nutrients, water and movement first. Fill your mind with grateful thoughts first thing, this will create positive feelings and naturally lift your vibration and consequently your actions will be inline with these positive thoughts. This way of thinking can certainly take some time to build but the more we do it the more we will lean in toward happiness and a positive mindset.
We really do have the power to choose how our day begins. and how we think and feel. Showing gratitude, being thankful, flipping thoughts to a positive, adopting healthy habits, these all can have life changing results.
A healthy start to the day both nutritionally and mentality reflect through our cells and outwardly in our skin. Might sound a bit woo woo, but believe me, it makes a lot of sense when you think deeply about it.
